Anstee Indication Systems (ais) has launched an innovative shear pin system which features robust internal sensor technology to detect and alert when a crack or failure occurs. 

Suitable for all types of horizontal grinders, the ais Smart Shear Pin is as strong as standard shear pins and will instantly alert when a crack or failure occurs to stop further damage to the machine. It has been tested and proven in more than two years of service.

The ais Shear Pin system overcomes the limitations of current machine protection systems and limit/proximity sensors, and eliminates the need for precautionary manual pin inspections. 

For new machines, the system can be wired to give crack/failure alerts via the control panel. For retrospective fitting, the system is supplied with a simple to read and install display box which is mounted on the machine and has lights to correspond to the status of each shear pin. Green lights on the display box indicate everything is ok, while a red light indicates a crack or failure has occurred within the shear pin. For added alert visibility, the system is also supplied with a flashing beacon, which flashes red when a shear pin fails.
